Botulinum toxin injections are the most popular cosmetic treatment offered at Perfect Skin and are used to diminish expression lines, sweating, and to subtly enhance the face.

In the case of wrinkle reduction, the toxin is strategically injected in small amounts to relax contraction of the underlying muscle causing the wrinkle. Dynamic wrinkles include: crow’s feet next to the eyes, frown lines or “11’s” between the eyebrows, horizontal forehead lines, and “bunny lines” on the sides of the nose. These injections work by blocking nerve impulse transmission to underlying muscle. Because the muscle cannot contract, the wrinkle relaxes, and the effect lasts several months.

In the case of treatment for excessive sweating, botulinum toxin is injected via tiny pinprick injections over the problem area, relaxing smooth muscle surrounding sweat glands, resulting in diminished sweating. The improvement usually lasts 6 months.

At Perfect Skin, we offer advanced injection techniques, including treatment of a gummy smile, sharpening a jawline, reshaping the nasal tip, reducing neck bands, widening the eye aperture, lifting the eyebrows, treating décolletage, thinning a square lower face, and correcting existing asymmetry.

We have a number of male patients, as men are learning the benefits of Botox. Dr. Schroeder is aware of the subtle differences between a feminine and masculine face and alters her technique to avoid feminizing a male patient.

Dr. Schroeder has performed botulinum injections for 17+ years and has been the primary instructor for this procedure at the University of Colorado School of Medicine Department of Dermatology teaching residents her artistic technique.
