Many may not know that the skin is the body’s largest organ. It serves vital functions, including temperature control and the protection of internal organs. As such, it influences the overall systemic health of the body and of different systems and organs. Skin health is vital to our patient’s overall health status. Dr. Schroeder knows that dry and itchy skin may be due to chronic skin conditions, like eczema. Persistently dry and intensely itchy skin, however,Ā may also indicate underlying disease, like diabetes, thyroid problems, and even liver concerns.
AnĀ initial consultation provides Dr. Schroeder with a good “starting point.” After she evaluates your skin and assesses for any lifestyle, environmental factors, and habits: skin care product recommendations and regimens can be made. Additionally, she may look closely at specific skin concerns, such as persistent acne or brown spots caused by sun damage. From there, cosmetic services may be recommended to bring out your most beautiful, healthy, and natural skin. Of course, no regimen would be complete without proper sunscreen products and other efforts to minimize exposure to harmful UV rays from the sun and tanning. Ā
It is generally advised that all patients visit us for professional skin checks or screenings at least once a year. if you have risk factors, such as a history of many and/or severe sunburns, Dr. Schroeder may wish to examine your skin more frequently. She also gives her patients information on conducting skin checks at home for themselves and their partners. If you are concerned about changes in the look or feel of a specific spot or lesion on your skin, contact us immediately. We can also biopsy or take a small sample of any suspicious tissue for further evaluation.
Not necessarily.Ā We provide a wide array of options to beautify your skin; not all these services are surgical. With advances in science and technology, you can soften lines and wrinkles, remove brown spots, and otherwise boost the overall quality and contours of your skin with non-surgical cosmetic procedures. Such procedures range from injectable treatments, like BotoxĀ® and fillers, to energy-based procedures, like CO2 fractional laser resurfacing and radiofrequency microneedling. Of course, if you prefer, we are happy to discuss options to lift and firm your skin, face, neck, and other body parts with surgery.
With Dr. Schroeder’s considerable credentials and experience, you never have to worry about the results from your procedure looking “windswept,” “overdone,” “frozen,” or like “somebody else.” You look natural, more rested, and healthy. For further peace of mind, Dr. Schroeder performs all injectable treatments herself. With such broad-based proficiency and skill in all aspects of dermatology ā medical, cosmetic, and surgical ā there is certain to be a trusted solution to support your healthiest, most attractive skin for life.
