Your ears are a hard-to-miss feature. They also support your unique style and can even make a big fashion statement. Perfect Skin MD can restore this important feature instantly following trauma to the earlobe. A straightforward procedure at our office in Juno Beach, Florida, known as a “lobe lift,” can also be used to support a more symmetrical, balanced, proportionate, and smooth appearance to this portion of the ear.
Earlobes may become stretched, scarred, and even ripped due to certain styles (such as heavy earrings, expanders, or “plugs”) and accidents or injuries like catching a hoop on an object that inadvertently tears the lobe. Changes to the skin associated with aging can also increase the risk of developing earlobe damage.
Earlobe revision is appropriate for all sorts of patients. You may be a candidate if you have scarring, lumps, or other surface irregularities, as well as if your lobes are stretched or saggy due to factors such as the loss of elasticity accompanying the aging process.
Every procedure has nuances, depending on your needs and unique anatomical features. Generally, the edges of the traumatized earlobe will first be “freshened up” by removing a tiny amount of tissue. The earlobe itself is reshaped, and fine sutures are applied to support the most natural-looking appearance and results that align with your ear’s natural shape. Sometimes, the filler is used to help give the earlobe substance and make it less “droopy.” Using fillers alone gives predictable results of a more youthful earlobe.
No treatment at Perfect Skin MD should ever “hurt.” Our therapies are designed to resolve pain, whether physical or emotional, that can affect how we feel about ourselves. With this procedure, all that is required is a local anesthetic. Since the lobe is numb, you won’t feel anything. Plus, treatment can be completed quickly, in an average of one hour. Your procedure will be done before you know it!
We’ll provide instructions on how to care for your ear in a way that supports predictable and rapid healing. Generally, we place a small pressure bandage to be worn overnight. Take care to avoid any vigorous activities. Otherwise, this is a no-downtime procedure. Apply ointments and gentle cleansing as recommended. Sutures will be removed 5-7 days post-surgery. You can even wear earrings again and re-pierce your ears once the site has healed and the scarring is softened (around six months).
The earlobes may seem a small part of your facial appearance; however, they can outsize your self-image and well-being. If you have torn your earlobe or are simply unhappy about the look of your lobes, give us a call today at 561-462-1965. Our team in Juno Beach is proud to serve Jupiter, North Palm Beach, and greater Southeastern FL, and we look forward to meeting you.
