How many treatments are needed?
Of course, every patient that we partner with is different. Your journey through treatment depends on many variables, including the nature and severity of your aesthetic concerns and how your body responds to treatment. Additionally, some patients may wish to undergo additional treatment sessions to bring their results to the next level.
Is it true Profound® can be a “one-and-done” treatment?
Initially, yes. You will still need maintenance or “touch-up” treatments to support sustained results. However, most patients have achieved desirable results in just one treatment session.

The patient is a 43-year-old female who was a patient for Botox and fillers but learned of the Profound™ treatment through my office. She had seen some of my before-and-after photos and was interested in a more comprehensive treatment.
She underwent treatment of the full face (minus the eye area) and received a total of 372 pulses. The After photo is six weeks after Profound™ treatment (a fast-responder, for sure).
She was surprised and pleased with her noticeable and early result (I had told her that it might take six months to see a full result). I find that younger patients (30s-40s) respond more quickly.
When can I start to see results?
It’s possible to see noticeable results in two months. With this type of treatment, applying RF energy deep within the skin triggers the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. These structural components provide firmness, elasticity, and moisture to the skin. Since the production of these parts of the skin is a process, you will notice gradual and increasing improvements in the texture, appearance, and overall quality of the treated areas (such as lax or saggy skin and lines, scars, and other depressions). Optimal improvements are typically visible in around four to six months.
How does Profound® get such results in one treatment?
Profound® is uniquely designed to facilitate dramatic results efficiently. It is a blend of microneedling and RF-assisted procedures. Once small perforations have been made in the treatment sites with tiny “micro-needles,” we precisely apply RF energy to areas of laxity, wrinkling, scarring, and more. Various aspects of the procedure can be customized to your needs and personal characteristics, including the temperature or heating generated by RF energy and how deeply the energy penetrates the skin. These features allow us to get tailored and appealing results in far less time than many other potentially more aggressive non-surgical treatments. Since the energy is only applied to the treatment sites, we can do more in less time and treat safely and predictably. The otherwise undamaged, healthy tissues outside the treatment sites are unaffected and remain intact.
How long do results last?
Again, the answer to this question depends on many factors specific to your characteristics, needs, goals, and lifestyle.
